A refreshing and delightful homemade strawberry milk recipe that combines a sweet strawberry syrup with creamy milk for a perfect fruity beverage. This easy-to-make treat uses fresh or frozen strawberries simmered into a syrup, then combined with milk for a naturally flavored drink ideal for all ages.

Ingredients

Strawberry Syrup

  • 3 cups sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen; about one 16-oz bag if using frozen)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅔ cup water

To Serve

  • Milk (preferably whole or 2%, non-dairy milk can be substituted), about ¾ cup per serving
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Make syrup: Place the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Simmer the mixture for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it slightly thickens and the strawberries release their juices.
  2. Drain syrup: Set a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and pour the cooked strawberry mixture through it. Use the back of a spoon to press the strawberries firmly, extracting as much juice and syrup as possible. Remove and discard the solids and scoop off any foam on the surface of the syrup. Chill the syrup in the refrigerator until cold.
  3. Assemble: When ready to serve, pour about ¾ cup of milk into a glass. Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of the chilled strawberry syrup (adjust more or less to taste). Stir well to combine.
  4. Optional topping: Add whipped cream on top for an extra touch of creaminess and sweetness if desired.

Notes

  • The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Use fresh or frozen strawberries based on availability; frozen work great especially out of season.
  • Adjust the sugar amount in the syrup for preferred sweetness levels.
  • Dairy-free milk options like almond or oat milk are great substitutes.
  • Whipped cream is optional but adds a lovely garnish and extra richness.
