This Slow Cooker Creamy Italian Chicken recipe features tender boneless skinless chicken breasts simmered low and slow in a rich, creamy sauce made from cream of chicken soup, zesty Italian dressing mix, and cream cheese. Perfect for an easy, comforting meal, it’s effortlessly shredded and served over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes with an optional parsley garnish for freshness.

Ingredients

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Mr's Dash Original seasoning blend (about 1 teaspoon, or to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 cans (10 ounces each) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 envelope Good Season's Zesty Italian dressing mix
  • 1/2 block (4 ounces) cream cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup milk (as needed to thin sauce)

Garnish

  • Chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of a large slow cooker insert with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Lay the boneless skinless chicken breasts evenly across the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Season the Chicken: Sprinkle the chicken breasts with about one teaspoon of Mr's Dash Original seasoning blend and a dash of black pepper according to your taste preferences.
  3. Add Sauces and Cream Cheese: Pour both cans of cream of chicken soup evenly over the chicken. Sprinkle the entire envelope of Good Season's Zesty Italian dressing mix on top. Place the cubed cream cheese evenly over the surface of the chicken and sauces to create a creamy texture as it cooks.
  4. Slow Cook the Chicken: Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low heat for 5 to 6 hours or on high heat for about 3 hours until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Shred the Chicken and Mix Sauce: Once cooked, carefully shred the chicken breasts in the slow cooker using two forks. Mix the shredded chicken thoroughly with the creamy sauce. If the sauce is too thick, gradually stir in 1/4 to 1/2 cup of milk until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Serve the creamy Italian chicken over cooked noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired for a fresh, colorful finish. Enjoy your hearty and comforting meal!

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning blend and pepper to taste or substitute with your favorite Italian seasoning.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, limit the amount of milk added at the end; for thinner sauce, add more as needed.
  • This recipe works well with chicken thighs as an alternative to breasts for extra juiciness.
  • Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and can be reheated gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  • Serve with your choice of side such as steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
