Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, plus extra for greasing the pan
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal

Decorations

  • 2 ounces white chocolate baking chocolate (candy coating or melts), divided
  • 16 candy eyes
  • 16 chocolate covered pretzels
  • 7 brown M&Ms
  • 1 red M&M
  • Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Generously grease an 8-inch cake pan with butter and set aside to prevent sticking of the Rice Krispie mixture later.
  2. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the mini marshmallows, stirring to coat them in butter until they are completely melted and smooth. Stir frequently to prevent scorching.
  3. Combine with Cereal: Remove the pot from heat and gently fold in the crispy rice cereal until the mixture is evenly combined and coated with marshmallow.
  4. Set the Mixture: Transfer the sticky mixture into the greased cake pan. Press it down evenly with a spatula or hands to form a uniform layer. Allow it to cool completely to set.
  5. Unmold and Slice: Once cooled, run a thin knife or spatula around the edges of the pan to loosen the treats. Place a cutting board or platter over the top of the pan and invert it. Carefully lift the pan off and slice the Rice Krispie Treats into triangular shapes to represent reindeer faces.
  6. Melt White Chocolate Part 1: Melt half of the white chocolate according to package directions, usually by microwaving in short bursts or using a double boiler, until smooth and creamy.
  7. Attach Eyes, Nose, and Antlers: Use a small amount of melted white chocolate on the backs of the candy eyes to stick them onto each triangular treat. Repeat with the red and brown M&Ms for the nose and the chocolate covered pretzels for the antlers, attaching them securely.
  8. Melt White Chocolate Part 2 and Decorate: Melt the remaining white chocolate. Spread some between the pretzel antlers and sprinkle Christmas sprinkles on top. Gently press sprinkles to adhere, completing the festive look.
  9. Set and Serve: Allow the white chocolate decorations to harden completely before serving. Store the finished treats in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
