A quick and healthy Protein French Toast recipe made with vanilla protein powder, almond milk, and whole grain bread. Perfect for a high-protein breakfast that’s easy to prepare in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Protein French Toast Batter

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 scoop (25-30g) vanilla protein powder (such as Equip)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

For the Toast

  • 2 slices whole grain or high-protein bread (e.g., Dave’s Killer Bread powerseed bread)
  • Cooking spray or a little coconut oil for the pan

Instructions

  1. Whisk: In a shallow bowl or dish, whisk together the egg, almond milk, protein powder, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sea salt until the mixture is smooth with no clumps.
  2. Soak the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the batter, allowing it to soak for 15–30 seconds on each side to absorb the mixture fully without becoming overly soggy.
  3. Cook: Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and lightly spray with cooking spray or add a small amount of coconut oil. Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until each side is golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Serve: Transfer the cooked French toast to a plate and add your preferred toppings such as fresh fruit, syrup, or nut butter. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Use whole grain or high-protein bread to increase the protein content and nutritional value.
  • Adjust soaking time depending on the bread’s thickness and density; avoid soaking too long to prevent sogginess.
  • For a dairy-free option, use plant-based milk like almond milk as suggested.
  • This recipe serves one; multiply ingredients accordingly for additional servings.
  • Adding cinnamon and vanilla enhances flavor without adding sugar.
