This Peppermint Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bark is a festive and delicious treat combining rich dark chocolate, crunchy pretzels, and refreshing peppermint flavor. Perfect for holiday snacking or gifting, this easy no-bake recipe features a delightful contrast of sweet and salty with a hint of minty freshness.

Ingredients

Chocolate Mixture

  • 12 oz. dark chocolate chips (dairy free/allergy friendly if needed)
  • ½ tsp peppermint extract

Main Mix-ins

  • 1 ½ cups mini pretzel twists (approx.)
  • ⅓ cup crushed candy canes (about 8-10 mini or 3 large candy canes)
  • Holiday or festive sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush Candy Canes: Place candy canes in a plastic bag and use a wooden spoon to crush them into small pieces suitable for sprinkling.
  2. Prepare Pan: Line a 9x9 inch pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking, then spread the mini pretzels evenly across the bottom of the pan.
  3. Melt Chocolate: Microwave the dark chocolate chips in 20-second increments, stirring thoroughly between each interval until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Add Peppermint and Candy Canes: Remove the melted chocolate from heat, stir in the peppermint extract, and fold in half of the crushed candy canes.
  5. Assemble Bark: Pour the chocolate mixture slowly over the pretzels, tilting and shaking the pan gently to help spread the chocolate evenly, then use a spatula to cover as much of the pretzels as possible.
  6. Top with Candy and Sprinkles: Sprinkle the remaining crushed candy canes and festive sprinkles evenly over the top of the chocolate layer.
  7. Set and Serve: Place the pan in the freezer for about 15 minutes until the bark hardens. Once firm, break into pieces and enjoy. Store any leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container for up to one week.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overheat the chocolate to avoid burning; stirring between microwave increments helps.
  • Use dairy-free or allergy-friendly chocolate if accommodating dietary restrictions.
  • For stronger peppermint flavor, adjust extract quantity according to taste.
  • Store bark away from heat or direct sunlight to prevent melting.
  • Crushing candy canes with a rolling pin or mallet also works if no wooden spoon is available.
