Ingredients

Crust

  • 24 Oreos (2 cups, 268g Oreo crumbs, including filling)
  • 4 tablespoons (56g) butter, melted (salted or unsalted)

Brownie Layer

  • 1 (16 ounce) fudge brownie box mix
  • Ingredients as per box instructions (typically includes oil, egg, and water)

Pudding Layer

  • 1 3/4 cups cold milk
  • 1 (3.9 ounce) 4 1/2-serving size package Jello Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling

Topping

  • 1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip or homemade whipped topping
  • Optional garnishes: crushed Oreo cookies, chopped pecans or walnuts, chocolate fudge, chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Place 24 Oreos (including the filling) into a food processor or blender and pulse until you get fine crumbs.
  2. Mix the crust: Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a medium mixing bowl and stir in the melted butter until combined.
  3. Form and bake the crust: Press the Oreo crumb mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a deep 9" pie dish, using the bottom of a glass or measuring cup for even compacting. Bake the crust for 10 minutes until firm.
  4. Prepare brownie batter: In a medium bowl, prepare the boxed fudge brownie mix according to package directions, typically adding oil, an egg, and water.
  5. Bake brownie layer: Pour the brownie batter into the pre-baked Oreo crust and spread evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out mostly clean (35 minutes recommended).
  6. Cool brownie layer: Place the pie on a cooling rack and allow the brownie layer to cool completely at room temperature for about 2 hours before adding the next layer.
  7. Make pudding layer: In a medium bowl, whisk the cold milk with the dry instant pudding mix for 2 minutes until smooth and thickened. Spoon this pudding evenly over the cooled brownie layer.
  8. Chill pudding layer: Refrigerate the pie for at least 2 hours to let the pudding set and chill.
  9. Add topping and garnish: Before serving, spread the whipped topping evenly over the pudding layer. Garnish with your choice of crushed Oreos, chopped nuts, chocolate fudge drizzle, or chocolate shavings.

Notes

  • Pressing the crust firmly ensures a solid base that won’t crumble.
  • Allow the brownie layer to come fully to room temperature before adding pudding to prevent mixing layers.
  • For a homemade whipped topping, whip heavy cream with a bit of sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Pie can be stored in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap for up to 3 days.
  • Use regular or sugar-free pudding mix to adjust for dietary preferences.
