This Honey-Garlic Glazed Salmon recipe delivers a perfectly seared salmon fillet topped with a sweet and savory honey-garlic glaze enhanced by soy sauce, fresh lemon juice, and a hint of red pepper flakes. Ready in just 20 minutes, it's an easy yet elegant dish that combines bold flavors with healthy ingredients, ideal for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

For the Glaze

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

For the Salmon

  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, patted dry with paper towels
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced into rounds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Honey-Garlic Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, reduced-sodium soy sauce, fresh lemon juice, and crushed red pepper flakes until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Sear the Salmon: Heat 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot but not smoking, place the salmon fillets skin side up in the pan. Season each fillet with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes until the flesh is just heated through and a light sear forms.
  3. Flip and Add Aromatics: Flip the salmon fillets skin side down in the skillet. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then add the minced garlic. Cook for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant, stirring gently to avoid burning.
  4. Glaze and Simmer: Pour the prepared honey-garlic glaze over the salmon, then add the lemon slices. Continuously baste the salmon with the sauce and lemon juices as it cooks, allowing the glaze to reduce by about one-third, which takes approximately 3 more minutes. Ensure the salmon is cooked through and coated with a shiny, flavorful glaze.

Notes

  • Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure a good sear and prevent sticking.
  • You can adjust the crushed red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level or omit for a milder version.
  • Serve the salmon immediately with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • To keep the skin crispier, avoid moving the salmon too much once it is placed in the skillet skin-side down.
