Ingredients

Sausage Patties

  • 1 lb. ground breakfast sausage (or 4 sausage patties)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Egg Omelettes

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup (200ml) whole milk
  • 4 tbsp. softened butter (for cooking)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Pancakes

  • 1 ¼ cups (160g) flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ⅔ cup (150ml) milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 7/8 tbsp. (40g) melted butter
  • 2 tbsp. maple syrup
  • Butter (for cooking)

Other Ingredients

  • 6 slices crispy bacon
  • 4 slices American cheese

Instructions

  1. Form Sausage Patties: Put the ground sausage in a bowl and gently massage with your hands. Form 4 meat patties and then season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook Sausage Patties: Heat a grill pan over medium heat and cook the sausage patties for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  3. Prepare Egg Mixture: In a medium bowl, crack all 6 eggs and whisk them along with 1 cup whole milk until fully combined.
  4. Cook Omelettes: Coat a large pan with softened butter and pour in 1/4 of the egg mixture. Cook over low heat for a few minutes until the underside is set. Season with salt, then gently flip and cook another minute.
  5. Fold Omelettes: Carefully fold each omelette into thirds, then fold once more to create a rectangular shape. Remove from pan and repeat with remaining egg mixture to make 4 omelettes total.
  6. Make Pancake Batter: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, egg, melted butter, and maple syrup, then whisk until a smooth, thick batter forms.
  7. Cook Pancakes: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly butter it. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of batter per pancake. Cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form, flip, and cook another minute. Repeat to make 8 small pancakes.
  8. Crisp Bacon: Cook bacon slices in a pan until crispy, or use microwave-ready bacon per package instructions.
  9. Assemble McGriddles: Place one warm pancake on a plate. Top with a slice of American cheese, then place a cooked sausage patty on the cheese, followed by a folded omelette and some crispy bacon slices.
  10. Complete Sandwich: Top with a second pancake to complete one sandwich. Repeat the assembly to make 4 McGriddle sandwiches in total.

Notes

  • Use a non-stick pan and butter liberally when cooking eggs and pancakes to prevent sticking.
  • Maple syrup in the pancake batter adds the signature McGriddle sweetness—do not omit.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to taste in the sausage and eggs.
  • To speed up bacon preparation, use pre-cooked microwave bacon slices.
  • This recipe yields 4 sandwiches, ideal for a family breakfast.
