Refreshing homemade lemonade made with freshly squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup, and water, perfect for a cool summer drink. Easy to prepare in just 15 minutes and serves 8 people, this classic beverage can be chilled ahead or served immediately with ice and lemon garnish.

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup simple syrup (plus more to taste)

Lemonade

  • 6 cups water
  • 3 cups fresh lemon juice
  • Ice, as needed
  • Lemon wheels (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Simple Syrup: Make the simple syrup according to your usual recipe or preferred method and allow it to cool to room temperature before using it in the lemonade.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the 6 cups of water, 3 cups of fresh lemon juice, and 1 cup of cooled simple syrup. Stir well to blend all the flavors together.
  3. Chill or Serve: If making the lemonade in advance, refrigerate until ready to serve. Otherwise, stir in several handfuls of ice to chill it immediately. Taste the lemonade and add more simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink.
  4. Serve: Pour the lemonade into glasses filled with ice and garnish each glass with a lemon wheel for a decorative and refreshing touch.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more simple syrup according to your taste preference.
  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • Simple syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • For a sparkling version, substitute some or all of the water with sparkling water.
  • To make a larger batch, maintain the same proportions of lemon juice, water, and simple syrup.
