This Dirty Banana Cocktail is a luscious, creamy drink blending ripe bananas, chocolate syrup, dark rum, coffee liqueur, and rich cream. Perfectly chilled and garnished with banana chunks and maraschino cherries, it offers a decadent tropical twist with a smooth, silky texture ideal for any occasion.

Ingredients

Fruit and Garnish

  • 2 ripe bananas (~240 g peeled)
  • 2 small banana chunks with peel (for garnish)
  • 2 maraschino cherries

Liquids and Syrups

  • 2 tbsps (30 ml) chocolate syrup
  • 4 oz (120 ml) dark rum
  • 2 oz (60 ml) coffee liqueur
  • 4 oz (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 oz (60 ml) cream of coconut

Other

  • 1½-2 cups (210-280 g) ice

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garnish: Cut two small chunks from one of the bananas and leave the peel on. Place them in the refrigerator to chill until ready to serve.
  2. Slice Bananas: Peel the remaining bananas and cut them into chunks suitable for blending.
  3. Coat Glasses: Swirl chocolate syrup inside two chilled cocktail glasses, coating the sides thoroughly. Return glasses to the refrigerator to keep chilled.
  4. Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the banana chunks, dark rum, coffee liqueur, heavy cream, and cream of coconut. Add a generous handful of ice. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth, thick yet still pourable. Pause once or twice to scrape down the blender sides for even consistency.
  5. Serve: Divide the blended cocktail evenly between the prepared chocolate-coated glasses.
  6. Garnish and Present: Thread one banana chunk and one maraschino cherry onto each cocktail pick. Place the garnish on the rim of each glass and serve immediately while the texture is cold and creamy.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for the sweetest flavor and best texture.
  • Dark rum varieties like aged or spiced rum complement the chocolate and coffee flavors really well.
  • Adjust the amount of ice to reach your preferred thickness—less ice for a creamier texture, more for a thicker, frosty drink.
  • Ensure glasses are well chilled to keep the cocktail cold longer.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream or a non-dairy cream alternative.
