Dirt Cups are a fun and easy dessert featuring layers of creamy chocolate pudding, crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, and gummy worms for a playful, dirt-like appearance. Perfect for kids' parties or a whimsical treat, this no-cook recipe comes together quickly with simple ingredients and delivers deliciously creamy and crunchy textures in every bite.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 16 chocolate sandwich cookies (e.g., Oreos)
  • Two 3.4 ounce boxes instant chocolate pudding mix

Wet Ingredients

  • 4 cups cold milk
  • One 8 ounce tub whipped topping (thawed)

Garnish

  • 24 gummy worms

Instructions

  1. Crush Cookies: Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a large resealable bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or pulse in a food processor. Set the cookie crumbs aside for layering.
  2. Prepare Pudding: In a large mixing bowl, add the cold milk and pour in the two boxes of instant chocolate pudding mix. Whisk thoroughly until smooth, then let the mixture set for 5 minutes to thicken properly.
  3. Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the thickened pudding mixture until well combined, creating a creamy and light pudding layer.
  4. Assemble First Layer: Take eight plastic cups and fill each with about 1/3 cup of the pudding mixture as the first layer.
  5. Add Cookie Crumbs: Sprinkle a heaping tablespoon of the crushed cookies evenly on top of the pudding in each cup, adding a crunchy texture.
  6. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering by adding the remaining pudding mixture followed by another layer of crushed cookies, finishing off the second layer in each cup.
  7. Decorate: Place three gummy worms on top of each cup, arranging them to look like worms wriggling out of the 'dirt.'

Notes

  • Use full-fat milk for a richer pudding texture.
  • For variation, try using vanilla pudding instead of chocolate.
  • Chill the assembled dirt cups for at least 30 minutes before serving to enhance flavor and texture.
  • Substitute whipped topping with homemade whipped cream for a fresher taste.
  • Make sure to thaw the whipped topping completely before folding it into the pudding.
