Ingredients

Oreo Crust

  • 10 Oreo cookies (110g)
  • 2 Tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted

Ice Cream Layers

  • 1.5 quarts (1.42L) chocolate ice cream, softened (or other flavor for bottom layer)
  • 1.5 quarts (1.42L) strawberry ice cream, softened (or other flavor for top layer)

Hot Fudge Sauce

  • 1 cup (8 ounces/227g) homemade hot fudge (or store-bought), divided

Whipped Cream Topping

  • 2 cups (480ml) heavy cream, cold
  • 1/3 cup (40g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Optional Garnish

  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreo Crust: In a food processor or blender, pulse 10 Oreos, including the cream filling, into coarse crumbs, leaving some chunks for texture. Mix the crumbs with melted butter and set aside.
  2. Soften the Bottom Ice Cream Layer: Remove the chocolate ice cream from the freezer and let it soften for 10 minutes while lining a 9×3-inch or 10×3-inch springform pan with plastic wrap, allowing an overhang on all sides for easy removal.
  3. Form Bottom Ice Cream Layer: Scoop the softened chocolate ice cream into the lined pan and spread it evenly using the back of a large spoon. Place in the freezer to firm for 30 minutes.
  4. Add Hot Fudge and Oreo Crust: Warm half a cup of hot fudge until spreadable. Pour and spread it evenly over the frozen chocolate ice cream layer. Then evenly distribute the Oreo crumb mixture over the hot fudge layer. Freeze for 30 minutes.
  5. Soften Top Ice Cream Layer: After 20 minutes of freezing, remove strawberry ice cream from the freezer to soften for 10 minutes.
  6. Top with Hot Fudge and Strawberry Ice Cream: Drizzle the remaining half cup of hot fudge over the Oreo layer. Quickly spoon and spread the softened strawberry ice cream evenly on top.
  7. Freeze Fully: Cover the cake with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and freeze for at least 12 hours or up to 2 days to set completely.
  8. Prepare Cake Plate: Place your desired cake plate, stand, or cutting board in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to prevent melting when serving.
  9. Make Whipped Cream Topping: Using a handheld or stand mixer with a whisk attachment, beat cold heavy cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form, approximately 4 minutes.
  10. Unmold and Decorate Cake: Remove the cake from the freezer. Remove the rim of the springform pan and lift the cake out using the plastic wrap. Carefully peel off the plastic wrap and place the cake on the chilled plate or board. Quickly spread or pipe the whipped cream over the top and sides of the cake, and garnish with sprinkles if desired.
  11. Serve or Store: Cut and serve immediately, using a sharp knife dipped in hot water between slices for clean cuts. Alternatively, freeze leftovers covered for up to 1 hour for best texture; longer storage may affect quality.

Notes

  • You can use a 9×13-inch or 8-inch square pan instead of the springform pan; just line with plastic wrap and freeze on a flat surface.
  • If you prefer, swap the ice cream flavors for your favorites to customize the cake.
  • Homemade hot fudge sauce ensures best flavor, but quality store-bought options also work well.
  • Whipped cream with confectioners’ sugar and vanilla adds a sweet, fluffy finish that's easy to pipe or spread.
  • Keep cake plate cold before serving to minimize melting and maintain structure when slicing.
  • Use a sharp knife dipped in hot water for clean slices without dragging ice cream.
