This Creamy Parmesan Garlic Chicken recipe features tender, pan-seared chicken breasts cooked in a luscious garlic cream sauce with Parmesan cheese and optional spinach. Ready in just 20 minutes, it's a quick and delicious dinner that pairs perfectly with pasta or vegetables.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 small-medium chicken breasts (or 2 large, halved)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Sauce

  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup light cream (or heavy cream)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning (or oregano)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup spinach, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season and Cook Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat olive oil in a large, heavy skillet or pan over medium heat. Add the chicken to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until the outside is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.
  2. Prepare Garlic Cream Sauce: Remove the cooked chicken from the pan and set aside. Reduce heat to low-medium. Add the minced garlic to the pan and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the cream, then add Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir well to combine and melt the cheese into the sauce. Optionally, stir in chopped spinach. Let the sauce simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to thicken and develop flavor.
  3. Combine and Finish: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the pan, nestling them into the sauce. Let them simmer together for an additional minute to heat through and absorb some sauce flavors. Turn off the heat, spoon the creamy sauce generously over the chicken, and serve immediately with your choice of pasta or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Use heavy cream for a richer sauce or light cream for a lighter option.
  • Adding spinach is optional but adds color and nutrients.
  • Make sure the chicken is cooked thoroughly by checking the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • This dish can be served with pasta, rice, or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
