A refreshing and tangy cranberry salsa that combines fresh cranberries, cilantro, jalapeños, and lime for a vibrant appetizer or snack. Perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness and zest, this salsa is delicious served chilled alongside cream cheese, feta, or your favorite crackers and chips.

Ingredients

Fresh Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 small jalapeños, ribs and seeds removed, minced
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Pantry Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Serving Suggestions

  • Cream cheese, whipped feta, brie, or goat cheese
  • Crackers, tortilla chips, or pita chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cranberries: Rinse the cranberries thoroughly, discarding any that are mushy or bruised. Place the cranberries into a food processor and pulse until they are finely chopped but not pureed, ensuring the salsa retains some texture.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, stir together the chopped cranberries, granulated sugar, chopped cilantro, minced jalapeños, sliced green onions, lime zest, lime juice, and kosher salt until well mixed.
  3. Chill the Salsa: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. For best results, chill overnight.
  4. Serve the Salsa: Serve the cranberry salsa chilled alongside tortilla chips, crackers, or pita chips. For an elegant appetizer, spoon the salsa over cream cheese bricks, whipped feta, or a warm brie wheel. Alternatively, spread cream cheese or goat cheese on crackers and top with the salsa for a simple and delicious snack.

Notes

  • Removing the ribs and seeds from jalapeños mellows the heat, but you can adjust according to your spice preference.
  • For a sweeter salsa, adjust the sugar quantity to taste.
  • This salsa can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator to enhance flavor melding.
  • Use fresh cranberries only; frozen cranberries will not yield the same texture.
  • The salsa pairs well with a variety of cheeses for versatile serving options.
