This Cookies and Cream Ice Cream recipe is a creamy, homemade delight featuring rich heavy cream and whole milk blended with sweet vanilla and loaded with crunchy chopped Oreos. Perfect for satisfying your ice cream cravings, this recipe uses an ice cream maker to achieve a smooth, soft-serve texture before freezing to firm perfection.

Ingredients

Ice Cream Base

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 3 cups Oreos, roughly chopped (about 20 cookies)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base: In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar dissolves completely. This creates the sweet, smooth ice cream base.
  2. Churn the ice cream: Pour the mixture into the frozen bowl of your ice cream maker. Churn for 20 to 30 minutes until the ice cream thickens to the consistency of soft serve.
  3. Add the Oreos: In the last 1 to 2 minutes of churning, add the roughly chopped Oreos to incorporate them evenly throughout the ice cream.
  4. Freeze the ice cream: Transfer the churned ice cream into a freezer-safe container. Cover and freeze for 4 to 6 hours until firm enough to scoop.

Notes

  • For best results, make sure your ice cream maker bowl is fully frozen before starting (usually 24 hours in freezer).
  • You can substitute Oreos with other sandwich cookies or chocolate chip cookies for variation.
  • Allow ice cream to sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping for a softer texture.
  • Use whole milk for creaminess; lower-fat milk may affect texture.
