Ingredients

Chicken Mixture

  • 3 Cups Cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 (10 Ounce) Can Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 (10 Ounce) Can Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup
  • 1/3 Cup Milk
  • 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 Packet Ranch Seasoning Mix
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

Topping

  • 32 Ounce Package Frozen Tater Tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and set it aside to prepare for assembling the casserole.
  2. Prepare chicken mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, condensed cheddar cheese soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning mix, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined. Stir in the cooked shredded chicken until fully incorporated into the creamy mixture.
  3. Assemble casserole: Pour the creamy chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Carefully arrange the frozen tater tots in an even layer on top of the chicken mixture, covering it completely.
  4. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly and the tater tots are golden and crispy on top. Remove from the oven and let it rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute cooked turkey for chicken if desired.
  • For extra crispiness, broil the casserole for 2-3 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  • Feel free to add vegetables such as peas or chopped green beans into the chicken mixture for added nutrition.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • Use low-fat or reduced sodium soup and cheese options to make a lighter version.
