Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 500 g Pasta (your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon Extra-virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic, crushed
  • 750 g Lean Ground Beef
  • 600 g canned Tomato Soup (condensed)
  • 600 g canned Mushroom Soup (condensed)
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black Pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Spray a large oven-safe dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Pasta: Cook the pasta in a large pot according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and return the pasta to the pot once done.
  3. Sauté Aromatics and Cook Meat: While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and crushed garlic until soft and fragrant. Add lean ground beef to the skillet and cook thoroughly until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
  4. Combine Ingredients: To the pot with the cooked pasta, add the browned ground beef mixture, canned tomato soup, canned mushroom soup, and milk. Stir everything together thoroughly. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the combined pasta and meat mixture into the prepared oven dish. Evenly sprinkle paprika and dried parsley on top for added flavor and color.
  6. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the casserole is bubbly and heated through. The top should have a lightly browned appearance.

Notes

  • Condensed tomato and mushroom soups are key to the creamy texture and rich flavor of this casserole. If unavailable, use regular tomato and mushroom soups but reduce the added milk slightly to maintain consistency.
  • Choose pasta shapes that hold sauce well, such as rotini, penne, or elbows for best texture.
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • This casserole reheats well and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
